Production Technician

Role overview

The Production Technician will run, oversee, and support granulation operations, with a focus on High Shear Mixers (HSM) and Fluid Bed Dryers (FBD). The role is centered on producing granules efficiently while meeting GMP, quality, and safety expectations and keeping downtime to a minimum.

Key duties

• Safely operate and closely observe HSM, FBD, and related granulation machines.
• Carry out equipment preparation, batch switches, process setting adjustments, and basic fault finding.
• Complete granulation and drying activities in line with approved Batch Manufacturing Records (BMRs), SOPs, and other process guidance.
• Track important process variables such as mixing duration, impeller and chopper speeds, inlet and outlet temperatures, airflow, and moisture levels.
• Assist with installation, qualification, and operational support for newly added granulation equipment.
• Spot routine issues quickly and help resolve them to reduce interruptions in production.
• Make sure all work follows GMP, safety, quality, and data integrity standards.
• Prepare batch documentation, equipment logbooks, usage records, and other required production paperwork accurately.
• Support equipment washing, line clearance, and cleaning validation activities whenever needed.
• Escalate equipment issues, process deviations, and maintenance needs to the Production Supervisor.
• Keep the production area tidy and orderly in line with GMP and safety rules.
• Take part in continuous improvement efforts aimed at better productivity, quality, and operational performance.

Professional knowledge

The position calls for a solid grasp of pharmaceutical granulation and drying, plus working knowledge of HSM and FBD controls and operation. Familiarity with GMP, GDP, and data integrity is important, along with an understanding of BMRs, SOPs, and production records. Basic exposure to cleaning, line clearance, validation, qualification, and computer-based production documentation is also needed.

Experience

Ideally, candidates should have at least 3 years of experience in granulation operations within a GMP-regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environment, including hands-on use of HSM, FBD, or similar equipment.

Education and language

A diploma or bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Technology, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline is required. Strong written and spoken English skills are expected.
