What you will do
- Run payroll for a high volume of employees, including wages, salaries, overtime, and allowances.
- Gather, check, and reconcile time and attendance information before processing.
- Make sure payroll entries are completed accurately and within required deadlines.
- Keep payroll files up to date and prepare payslips, tax-related documents, and reporting outputs.
- Apply the correct legislative, award, and tax rules to all payroll activities.
- Handle payroll questions professionally and provide strong service to employees and stakeholders.
- Work closely with HR, Finance, and other teams on payroll matters.
- Spot inconsistencies and help drive improvements to payroll processes.
Candidate profile
- Background in payroll processing within a medium-to-large business is essential; applications from candidates who have only worked in smaller organisations will not be suitable.
- Solid knowledge of Australian payroll law, awards, and taxation obligations.
- Very strong accuracy, with good analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable balancing several priorities while meeting firm deadlines.
- Clear communicator with a service-focused approach.
- Collaborative team player who is also proactive and flexible.
