Role overview
This position is focused on building and carrying out integrated trading plans for middle distillates in Asia and East-of-Suez markets, with a particular emphasis on diesel and jet fuel. The aim is to improve returns by using Chevron’s own supply chain and external opportunities effectively, while staying within the company’s risk framework. The role blends physical trading with paper markets and requires a strong grasp of fundamentals, quick judgement, and careful compliance with Operational Excellence standards.
What you will do
- Handle physical trading of jet fuel, diesel, and related components in spot and term markets across East-of-Suez regions to strengthen trading positions and improve profitability, including third-party deals when they add value.
- Create and implement physical trading plans using market structure, arbitrage opportunities, and regional supply-demand dynamics.
- Coordinate with operations, shipping, and commercial support teams so that requirements are communicated clearly and position updates, strategies, and operational needs are well understood.
- Partner with analytical teams to spot trends, measure value, and support better trading decisions.
- Control market exposure through derivatives such as swaps, futures, and options over different time horizons while remaining inside internal risk limits.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with brokers, counterparties, and internal teams to strengthen market insight.
- Follow compliance requirements and Chevron’s Operational Excellence standards in every trading activity.
Required profile
The ideal candidate has trading experience in jet or diesel markets and understands both physical products and paper instruments, including hedging methods. You should be comfortable analysing complex situations, making fast decisions under pressure, and negotiating effectively. A strong drive for long-term success, flexibility around working hours, and willingness to travel from time to time are also important.
Preferred background
A degree in Engineering, Economics, Business, or a similar field is preferred, or an equivalent qualification. Candidates with at least 3 years of experience in refined products trading and a solid understanding of refining economics, blending, and arbitrage flows in East-of-Suez and global markets will be especially well suited.
