About the role
Flywheel is looking for a mid-weight designer to strengthen its creative team in Auckland. This role involves turning brand strategy into effective visual design work that connects with shoppers across in-store and digital channels.
You will contribute to design projects with guidance from senior team members, adding professional input at different points in the creative process. Work will span early concept development, campaign asset creation, and final production delivery.
The right person will bring a strong portfolio that demonstrates design quality across several formats, along with the ability to work well in a collaborative, fast-moving environment.
Responsibilities
- Translate brand strategies into clear, engaging visual design solutions.
- Support and complete design projects under supervision from senior team members.
- Contribute input from ideation through to campaign asset development and final production.
- Create work that performs effectively across physical and digital customer touchpoints.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams and clients to shape design outputs.
- Maintain a high standard of creativity, accuracy, and attention to detail while meeting deadlines.
Requirements
- A degree-level qualification in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or a closely related discipline.
- Proven background as a graphic designer with a strong portfolio showing solid design principles and the ability to communicate ideas effectively.
- Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
- Strong working knowledge of Figma for presentations, prototyping, and digital layout planning.
- Experience with Adobe After Effects or another motion design tool is a strong advantage.
- Good understanding of layout, colour, and typography, with a natural sense for digital customer journeys.
- Clear and confident communication skills for presenting ideas and working with teams and clients.
- Practical knowledge of print production workflows and digital specifications.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced setting and manage tight timelines.
- A continuous-learning mindset and interest in industry trends, digital innovation, and emerging technologies.
- A portfolio is essential for consideration.
