Microbiology Internship

Overview

The PVSC Analytical Lab holds New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection certification across a broad set of testing areas, including BOD, CBOD, COD, TSS, ammonia, cyanide, metals, and additional parameters. The lab processes samples every day from the PVSC plant operations, industrial monitoring, liquid waste acceptance, and harbor study river waters. In a typical month, more than 5,000 samples are tested for multiple parameters.

Role Summary

The intern will support laboratory sample handling from chain of custody through to final disposal. The position also includes exposure to laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and report preparation.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants should be working toward a degree in Biology, Chemistry, or Environmental Science. The role also calls for solid computer skills, especially with Word and Excel, along with the ability to stay organized, manage assigned tasks, and follow safety practices carefully.

Compensation and Schedule

This is a paid internship offering $17 per hour. The program runs for 12 weeks and requires 35 hours of work per week.
