About the opportunity
This role is for a US-based product company hiring through a recruitment partner for its Gurgaon office. The position focuses on model-based engineering, metrology support, and digital quality workflows in a manufacturing environment.
Location: Phase-1 of IT/ITES SEZ, International Techpark (ITPG), Gurgaon
Experience required: 3 to 6 years
Joining timeframe: Immediate joiners up to a maximum notice period of 30 days only
Role overview
- Develop fixtures, gauges, and mechanical parts, along with related sub-assemblies and assemblies, while meeting MBD and QIF expectations as well as functional, manufacturing, and quality needs.
- Build, revise, and maintain 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, and MBD datasets using tools such as CATIA, SolidWorks, Creo, or NX.
- Work with Model Based Definition methods, including semantic PMI, GD&T, and embedded annotations inside 3D models.
- Create and manage QIF models to support inspection, metrology, and connected quality processes.
- Ensure the design intent is carried accurately from CAD/MBD data into manufacturing and inspection systems.
- Use GD&T practices aligned with ASME Y14.5 to produce designs that are functionally sound and ready for inspection.
- Contribute to DFMEA and PFMEA activities and apply Design for DFXX principles such as DFM, DFI, and DFA.
- Support new product introduction and sustaining work by handling design updates, optimization efforts, and manufacturability improvements.
- Partner with Manufacturing, Quality, Metrology, and Digital teams to keep design, inspection, and production aligned.
- Assist in prototype builds, design verification, and validation testing.
- Prepare and maintain documentation such as BOMs and ECR/ECN records, and release digital models through PLM systems.
- Take part in continuous improvement efforts aimed at improving digital design enablement and process efficiency.
Requirements
- Strong command of 3D CAD modeling and engineering drawing creation.
- Practical knowledge of MBD concepts and workflows.
- Experience with design software such as Creo, SolidWorks, NX, or UG.
- Working understanding of QIF modeling for inspection and quality integration.
- Good grasp of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and design-for-manufacturability concepts.
- Ability to handle digital product definitions across the full design-to-inspection process.
- Background in NPI and sustaining engineering support.
- Strong analytical thinking, issue-solving ability, and communication skills.
- Comfort working with cross-functional teams.
- B.Tech / BE in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
- 3 to 6 years of experience in mechanical design engineering, preferably in manufacturing, MedTech, or precision engineering settings.
- Preferred traits include strong attention to detail, a quality-first mindset, and willingness to adopt new metrology-related technologies.
- Candidate should be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
