Role overview
The Pictsweet Company, a family-run business now in its fourth generation and founded in 1945, is expanding. With deep agricultural roots and a focus on frozen vegetables, the company is looking for a Mail Clerk to keep mailroom operations running smoothly across several locations.
This position is centered on the accurate, timely movement of incoming and outgoing mail, coordination of deliveries, and support for day-to-day shipping and internal communication needs. Success in this role depends on being dependable, detail-oriented, and able to manage time well.
What you will do
- Receive, sort, and route incoming mail and parcels to the right teams and employees.
- Set up outgoing mail, including postage handling, courier arrangements, and shipping paperwork.
- Carry out scheduled mail pickups and deliveries among local sites, including the Corporate office, Bells Plant, Jackson Warehouse, and Brownsville distribution center.
- Use mailroom tools and systems such as postage meters, scanners, and tracking software.
- Handle forklift operations safely and in line with company procedures and safety rules to move, load, and organize materials.
- Keep shipment logs, delivery details, and mailroom activity records accurate and up to date.
- Work with outside carriers such as USPS, FedEx, and UPS to coordinate pickup and drop-off activity.
- Manage priority, confidential, and time-sensitive items with care and promptness.
- Maintain a neat, orderly, and efficient mailroom workspace.
- Support bulk mailing efforts, company-wide communications, and special distribution assignments when needed.
- Take on additional tasks assigned by management.
Qualifications and skills
The ideal candidate has prior exposure to mailroom, shipping, or receiving work, along with strong organization and a high level of attention to detail. The job also calls for the ability to work independently, manage priorities, and use basic computer tools for email, tracking, and shipping systems.
A valid driver’s license is required, since travel between company locations is part of the role. Forklift experience is preferred, and the role involves regularly lifting packages that may weigh about 30–50 lbs. Candidates should be thorough, practical problem-solvers who can keep up in a fast-moving environment with daily deadlines.
Working conditions
This is an active position with frequent standing, walking, and lifting. Regular travel between company sites is expected, and the work environment is fast-paced with everyday time-sensitive tasks.
Requirements
- 1–2 years of experience in mailroom, shipping/receiving, or a similar area is preferred.
- High school diploma or an equivalent credential is required.
- Strong organizational ability and keen attention to detail.
- Good time management and the ability to work without close supervision.
- Basic computer knowledge, including email, tracking tools, and shipping software.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel between locations as needed.
- Forklift operation experience is preferred.
