Role overview
This position supports the strategy and day-to-day execution of direct supply parts operations, including consignment part ordering, returnable rack movements to and from overseas and North American suppliers, warehousing, and Tier 1 supplier inventory control.
The role is also responsible for helping design and launch operational processes in line with the project master schedule so that Quality, Cost, and Delivery objectives are achieved. It involves supporting Tier 1 supplier production planning, reacting quickly to outside changes, and assisting MTMUS production planning while keeping customer demand in focus.
In addition, the job works closely with the management team throughout production stages to strengthen daily operations, improve processes, and keep work flowing smoothly and in line with plant expectations.
Key operational duties
The role contributes to building, running, and managing direct supply operations, including logistics design, warehouse activity, inventory control, supplier coordination, and customs-related support. It also includes setting performance measures, overseeing operations for quality, cost, delivery, and safety, and helping address issues quickly to avoid delays or defects.
Contracting, payment, recordkeeping, and financial administration are also part of the position. This includes reviewing contracts and pricing, handling approvals for contractor purchases and payments, maintaining system data, supporting audits, and assisting with reporting and budgeting.
Travel and location context
This is an on-site role in Madison, Alabama. The position requires up to 20% travel, including both domestic and international trips. A current passport, or the ability to obtain one, is required because of travel needs.

Responsibilities
- Work with leadership to shape and maintain business strategies that follow global direct supply guidelines set by Mazda Japan.
- Provide daily status updates to management and the team leader.
- Help establish and maintain operating processes and procedures for part ordering, logistics design, warehouse operations, supplier inventory control, returnable racks, and customs-related work.
- Coordinate with Mazda Japan colleagues, logistics providers, and other relevant partners to reduce cost, defects, and delays.
- Support efforts to outsource logistics and warehousing activities to third-party vendors.
- Help define and track KPIs for direct supply parts moving to and from overseas and North American suppliers.
- Monitor warehouse and related operations to maintain required QCD and safety performance.
- Review logistics and warehouse designs and efficiency proposals from providers and share feedback for improvement.
- Resolve issues related to part ordering and logistics operations in a timely manner.
- Track operational processes to support compliance with regulations, legal obligations, and safety standards.
- Support import and export customs activity alongside the MNAO customs team.
- Assist with cost reduction initiatives and corrective actions related to operational or delivery-schedule issues.
- Contribute strategically while completing objectives assigned by management and the team leader.
- Review contracts and pricing with the manager, team leader, and legal team to ensure alignment with the planned scope of operations.
- Evaluate and submit approvals for contractor purchases and payments.
- Enter and maintain logistics system data for compliance and records management.
- Support yearly financial audits and help track audit resolutions.
- Assist with financial reporting, budget preparation, and budget monitoring.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Logistics, or a related discipline is preferred; relevant work experience may be accepted instead of a degree.
- At least 3 years of experience in a related field.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Experience on projects requiring coordination across multiple departments.
- Ability to contribute strategically while also executing assigned objectives effectively.
- Good understanding of logistics practices and the ability to analyze logistics processes.
- Capability to collect data, identify issues, and create improvement proposals for management.
- Strong analytical and conceptual thinking, with the ability to reason logically and think creatively and strategically.
- Understanding of financial reports, budgeting principles, and general administrative practices.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interpret reports, drawings, and communications as needed.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Preferred background includes 3+ years in automotive production parts ordering and/or logistics operations, including import/export logistics.
- Preferred knowledge of automotive technology.
- Preferred familiarity with problem-solving methods such as PDCA, 8D analysis, and 7 statistical tools.
- Spanish/English bilingual ability is preferred.
- Current passport, or the ability to obtain one, is required due to travel obligations.

Pay range
The expected salary range is $69,400 to $100,600 per year.
