The Security and IT team partners closely with every part of the organization and works on a wide range of requests, planning efforts, and operational support. This position reports to the Head of Information Security.

This is a fully remote role, with preference for candidates in the Eastern U.S. time zone. Visa sponsorship is not available for this opening.

Role overview

As the IT Security Administrator, you will support day-to-day security and IT operations, respond to service requests, help manage access and user provisioning, and assist with investigations, documentation, and system hardening. The role combines hands-on technical administration with security operations support across a distributed workforce.

Key responsibilities

• Handle security and IT service desk issues, including initial triage and resolution or escalation to the appropriate team member.
• Support access changes, SCIM-based onboarding automation, and user provisioning and deprovisioning workflows.
• Administer Atlassian cloud tools such as Jira, Jira Service Management, and Confluence.
• Carry out administrative work related to auditing, user access, and software licensing across departments.
• Respond to security incidents and investigations, resolving issues when possible or escalating them appropriately.
• Support the secure and ethical use of AI systems and data across the organization.
• Review SOC and SIEM alerts and network activity for suspicious behavior, acting as a first-line responder and escalating to higher-tier SOC support when needed.
• Help maintain documentation for security systems, services, and procedures that support compliance and certification efforts, including ISO 27001, SOC 2, HIPAA, and GDPR.
• Administer endpoint and data protection controls using technologies such as EDR, MDM, SASE, DLP, and brand/dark web protection tools.
• Define and document standard operating procedures for security and IT services, along with hardened configuration baselines.
• Assist with patching, system updates, endpoint standardization, and vulnerability management to minimize downtime and keep systems secure.

• Ability to provide coverage before the U.S. East Coast workday begins, extending team availability.
• Broad experience as a security and IT generalist in environments with varied technologies, along with the ability to go deep where needed.
• Experience managing hardware and software for a remote, distributed, and decentralized global workforce.
• Strong judgment when handling sensitive information and maintaining confidentiality and security best practices.
• Interest in solving security and IT challenges through technical understanding, assurance, and collaboration.
• Comfort staying current with security trends, tools, and emerging technologies.
• Familiarity with security standards and regulations related to AI and data privacy.
• A collaborative, adaptable approach and strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Enthusiasm for open source and improving internet security.
• Strong problem-solving ability, including the capacity to identify solutions and communicate them clearly.

Compensation

The U.S. starting base salary range for this role is $115,000 to $145,000. Final compensation depends on seniority, relevant experience, skills demonstrated during interviews, and local market data. Compensation outside the U.S. will vary by market. Benefits are available through the company’s careers page.
