Role overview
Rio Tinto is hiring a Fixed Plant Inspector for a residential position in Dampier, Western Australia. The roster is 8/6/7/7 dayshift. This is a permanent opportunity with a wide range of extra benefits and a work pattern designed to leave you with more time for what matters.

What the role involves
You will provide technical input, practical support and specialist advice on equipment condition, while helping the fixed plant maintenance team improve reliability and performance. The role plays an important part in delivering high-quality inspections, disciplined work management and better maintenance outcomes through the Rio Tinto maintenance framework and RTBS.
This is a site-based residential role reporting to the Supervisor Asset Health and working collaboratively across fixed plant maintenance, planning and condition monitoring functions.
Key duties
- Follow all Rio Tinto standards, procedures and policies, and help maintain a strong safety culture in every activity.
- Encourage ownership, collaboration and ongoing improvement across the team.
- Carry out detailed inspections of fixed plant equipment and raise quality SAP notifications for repairs based on condition and risk.
- Carry out maintenance work that is guided by inspection findings and aligned with work management processes.
- Complete commissioning checks and quality assurance reviews after maintenance activities.
- Help improve bill of materials accuracy and maintenance tactics so they reflect actual plant condition.
- Act as a link between planning, condition monitoring and maintenance teams by sharing asset-condition updates, priorities and advice on repair, life extension or replacement decisions.
- Coach others and provide technical support to improve outcomes across the team.
Candidate profile
The ideal candidate will bring a strong safety mindset, substantial experience with fixed plant equipment, and the ability to diagnose issues effectively. You should be comfortable working across systems and collaborating with multiple teams.
Location details
You will be based in Dampier as part of Rio Tinto’s integrated port operations. The business operates shipping terminals at Cape Lambert and Dampier as a single port system, with Dampier covering Parker Point and East Intercourse Island.
