Role overview
The Human Resources Generalist will take charge of the company’s recruiting function end to end. This role is expected to build and execute hiring plans and sourcing strategies that help attract strong candidates and support the organization’s staffing needs while upholding HR values in every part of the work.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee the full hiring lifecycle, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, selecting, and onboarding new hires.
- Partner with managers on recruitment needs, post job ads, review applications, assess candidates, and complete reference or background checks when needed.
- Lead onboarding for newly hired employees and complete E-Verify processing.
- Support ABC card processing and order business cards.
- Work with managers and employees on performance improvement discussions, corrective counseling, and other HR matters while staying aligned with company policy and state and federal laws.
- Address employee morale concerns, advise leadership on issues affecting morale, and suggest practical ways to improve the work environment.
- Prepare termination paperwork, handle COBRA administration, and conduct exit interviews.
- Assist with post-accident drug testing when required.
- Keep personnel files accurate, organized, and up to date.
- Maintain I-9 records, auto insurance documentation, and phone bill records.
- Track work authorization documents, monitor expiration dates, and communicate renewal requirements as needed.
- Coordinate with staffing agencies to source temporary workers.
- Update the company phone directory and organizational charts.
- Prepare the monthly headcount report and distribute it as needed.
- Maintain recruitment spreadsheets and provide monthly updates and reporting.
- Submit quarterly reports such as the Multiple Worksite Report.
- Maintain monthly calendars for employee birthdays and work anniversaries.
- Support unemployment claims by preparing and submitting fact-finding documentation.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- At least 2 to 5 years of experience in human resources.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or an equivalent background.
- Strong skills in interpersonal communication, conflict resolution, negotiation, and consulting.
- Clear and effective verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS tools.
- Ability to keep information confidential and use sound judgment with discretion.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail.
- Excellent organization and the ability to work well under pressure.
- Capable of managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
- Experience with ExponentHR is preferred.
- Multilingual ability is considered a plus.
- Work involves sitting for long periods while using a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
- Must be able to move through all departments within the company’s facilities.
Additional information
The role also includes maintaining HR records and documents, supporting compliance-related tasks, and contributing to reporting, staffing, and employee lifecycle administration. Non-essential duties may be assigned as needed.
