Role overview
SME Careers is looking for an HTML/CSS specialist to support remote, hourly-paid contractor work focused on reviewing and improving AI-generated frontend content. The work centers on checking HTML/CSS code, UI layouts, and technical explanations, then producing strong reference implementations and clear step-by-step reasoning for both straightforward and complex frontend tasks.
In this role, you will judge outputs for technical accuracy, readability, accessibility, responsiveness, cross-browser behavior, and alignment with the prompt. You will also look for problems in semantic markup, Flexbox and Grid layout logic, responsive design, CSS architecture, cascade and specificity conflicts, and performance concerns. In addition, you will verify technical claims, create high-quality explanations and model solutions that reflect best practices, and compare multiple AI responses by correctness and reasoning quality.
This is a fully remote contractor position with a fast-growing AI data services company and subsidiary of SuperAnnotate. The organization provides AI training data to major AI companies and foundation model labs, and this frontend expertise will contribute to improving AI systems used by developers worldwide.
Important note
There is no active project assigned right away. If you are a fit, you may be contacted first when relevant opportunities open up. You will also gain access to future work through the expert network.
Key responsibilities
- Create detailed prompts across HTML and CSS topics, along with well-structured reference answers that help train AI systems.
- Review and rank AI responses with attention to semantic accuracy, accessibility, responsiveness, and visual quality.
- Check AI-generated outputs for mistakes, weak reasoning, or unsafe guidance, and validate them against real-world UI scenarios.
Profile
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Design, HCI, or a similar discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 4 years of professional work building production user interfaces using semantic HTML and modern CSS.
- Advanced ability in layout systems such as Flexbox and Grid, responsive design patterns, and component-based styling.
- Solid accessibility awareness, including semantic structure, ARIA basics, keyboard navigation, focus handling, and WCAG-conscious design.
- Strong knowledge of browser fundamentals such as the box model, stacking context, positioning, rendering behavior, and cross-browser testing.
- Experience with maintainable CSS practices, including naming conventions like BEM, design tokens, variables, theming, and avoiding specificity conflicts.
- Comfort with modern tooling such as Sass, PostCSS, Tailwind, CSS Modules, or styled systems is helpful, though the role mainly emphasizes core HTML/CSS correctness.
- Minimum C1 level English, both written and spoken, with the ability to produce clear technical explanations and follow detailed instructions in English.
- Demonstrated experience in detailed code review and maintaining UI quality standards for accessibility, responsiveness, and long-term maintainability.
- Prior exposure to AI data training, annotation, or assessment of AI-generated technical content is a strong advantage.
- A highly methodical, detail-focused approach to spotting subtle UI issues and evaluating reasoning quality.
