Role overview

Tesla Insurance is focused on creating modern, data-informed coverage for Tesla and non-Tesla vehicle owners as part of Tesla’s broader mission to accelerate the shift to sustainable energy. This team builds customer-facing and internal products that support quotes, policies, rating, underwriting, billing, AI-driven tools, and operational workflows. The role is suited to a mid- to senior-level frontend engineer who enjoys working in a fast-moving, highly collaborative environment with strong ownership and the chance to influence architecture, product quality, and user experience.

What you will do

• Develop a secure, responsive, polished mobile app experience for Tesla Insurance customers.
• Ramp up quickly on unfamiliar areas such as policy management, vehicle telemetry visualization, and related product flows.
• Contribute code to the Tesla app early in your tenure, including an initial pull request within the first week.
• Work with partner teams to define protobuf-based data contracts that support scalable feature delivery.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and design to implement thoughtful product solutions.
• Take ownership of a section of the app, including quality, performance, documentation, and code review responsibilities.
• Help improve engineering processes, code quality, and tooling so the team can ship quickly and safely.
• Use first-principles thinking to continuously refine workflows and improve the customer experience.

What you should bring

• At least 3 to 5+ years of experience delivering secure, fast, and visually polished mobile applications for iOS and Android.
• Preference for experience with cross-platform development using React Native.
• Strong working knowledge of a modern programming language such as TypeScript, Golang, Swift, Kotlin, Scala, Rust, or C++.
• Exposure to fintech, insurance, large-scale systems, or cross-platform UI design system packages is a plus.
• Genuine interest in Tesla’s mission of advancing sustainable energy.

Benefits and compensation

This is a full-time role with competitive pay and benefits available from day one. The total expected annual compensation is $140,000 to $300,000, and it may also include cash and stock awards along with other job-dependent compensation elements. Final pay can vary based on location, relevant knowledge, skills, and experience.
