About the Role
This position is for a design-focused sales professional who helps customers imagine and plan home interiors that match current trends and their personal style. The role blends interior design guidance, customer relationship building, and active selling in a store environment, with consultations that may also take place in a client’s home or virtually. You will use digital design tools to create presentations and floor plans, support customers from first conversation through follow-up, and contribute to a collaborative retail team focused on business growth.
What You’ll Do
- Support sales growth by creating engaging customer experiences across the store, at home, and online.
- Prepare design solutions using approved tools, including mood boards, 2D and 3D floor plans, product selections, and presentation materials.
- Run design consultations in person, by phone, by email, and through virtual meetings.
- Complete customer projects within agreed timelines and keep communication prompt and clear.
- Work with the brand’s aesthetic direction and merchandising approach across store, e-commerce, and catalog channels.
- Stay current on product details, care instructions, market competition, and industry trends.
- Meet individual targets for sales, customer service, productivity, and key performance indicators.
- Engage shoppers on the sales floor and use consultative selling techniques to match products to their needs.
- Promote loyalty and service programs such as designer rewards, the Design Trade Program, and the credit card offering.
- Deliver friendly, efficient, and high-quality service at all times.
- Help train store teams on design services and what the offering includes.
- Build lasting client relationships through outreach, networking, and follow-up.
- Apply core design knowledge such as spatial planning, fabric choices, lighting, and interior styles.
- Use technology confidently, including 2D/3D design tools, Google Workspace, video conferencing, and iPad-based tools.
- Adapt quickly as business needs and priorities change.
What We’re Looking For
- Working knowledge of spatial planning, fabric selection, lighting, and interior design styles.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interpret brand direction and customer needs.
- Comfort with design and productivity technology, including digital floor planning and virtual communication tools.
- Awareness of current design trends and product developments.
- Ability to build and maintain long-term customer relationships.
- At least 1 year of relevant experience in furniture sales, home decor design, retail, or customer service.
- Experience working directly with clients to recommend practical solutions.
- Familiarity with Google platforms and virtual communication tools; experience with design software is preferred.
