Role overview

As a Data Center Engineering Operations Technician, you will support the reliability and continuous operation of critical electrical and mechanical systems inside a Frankfurt data center. This includes delivering best-practice operations and resolving issues across infrastructure such as UPS units, medium-voltage electrical systems, generators, cooling equipment, switchgear, power distribution units, air handling units, fire detection systems, and building automation systems. The role is highly hands-on and calls for someone who takes initiative, works independently, and is comfortable tackling complex technical problems. You will report to the Data Center Engineering Operations Manager.

What you will do

Help maintain a strong safety culture and ensure operational work is carried out to the highest safety standards.
Support continuous improvement by standardizing procedures and policies and by meeting agreed performance targets.
Contribute to delivering full uptime for customer-facing infrastructure.
Work with internal and external partners to support operational excellence for AWS customers.
Plan and execute preventive maintenance for critical site facilities in line with AWS processes.
Monitor and supervise facility systems through tools and site walkthroughs.
Participate in data center build-outs and retrofit projects.
Respond appropriately to events that could affect customers by acting on electrical or mechanical infrastructure issues.
Review incidents, summarize trends, and share updates plus suggested actions with management.
Prepare, revise, and keep current method statements, operating procedures, emergency response documents, preventive maintenance plans, and other technical records related to DCEO.

Working conditions and physical demands

This role may require work on a 24/7 schedule where applicable.
You may need to work at heights and use ladders.
Physical tasks are part of the shift.
The environment can be noisy, so hearing protection may be required.

Education and background

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A solid understanding of electrical fundamentals is also needed. Experience in data center engineering and familiarity with mechanical systems, including HVAC and controls, are preferred.
