Role Overview
Reporting to the Construction Manager, the Site Supervisor is accountable for overseeing day-to-day activities at the construction site. The role focuses on keeping crews aligned with project goals so work is completed safely, efficiently, on time, and within budget. This position is also the main contact for the Project Manager, subcontractors, and the client, and is responsible for making sure crew timesheets are submitted accurately and on time.
Key Duties
- Direct and coordinate all site-level construction work to ensure alignment with drawings, technical specifications, schedules, budgets, and quality expectations.
- Guide, support, and supervise field crews while encouraging accountability, productivity, and collaboration.
- Make sure crew timesheets are completed and submitted every day.
- Serve as the main communication bridge between the company, client representatives, subcontractors, and on-site teams.
- Set the tone for safe work practices by actively promoting and following company safety rules and procedures.
- Record and report incidents and injuries, including the completion of required documentation and communication with the Safety Manager.
- Work with the Project Manager to keep construction timelines on track through efficient planning of labor, materials, tools, and equipment.
- Track workmanship quality to ensure work meets design documents and project requirements.
- Coach, develop, and motivate crew members to strengthen safe work habits and continuous improvement.
- Coordinate with the Project Manager and client to review, monitor, and close RFIs and change orders.
- Assist with internal and external audits, inspections, and other compliance-related activities.
Additional Information
This is a safety-sensitive position. Employment depends on successful pre-employment drug and alcohol screening, along with criminal and general background checks.
Work Schedule
- Rotation schedules may include 4 days on / 3 days off, 8 days on / 6 days off, 5 days on / 2 days off, and similar patterns.
- Regular shifts are 10 hours long, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
- Overtime is paid at time and a half after 10 hours in a day and after 40 hours in a week.
- For out-of-town assignments, the employer may provide all-inclusive camp lodging or LOA with separate accommodations, depending on the project.
Requirements
- A degree in Construction Management or a related discipline, or a Journeyperson PSE/Electrician designation.
- A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
- Between 5 and 7 years of experience in the construction industry.
- Background in medium- to high-voltage substation construction is considered an advantage.
- Practical understanding of construction methods, safety rules, scheduling, cost control, quality management, and interpretation of engineering drawings.
- Ability and willingness to travel to job sites as needed.
