Role Summary
This is a full-time, on-site Commis 1 position in Doha, Qatar. The role supports the kitchen team by preparing, cooking, and presenting dishes in line with hotel recipes, standards, and menu requirements. You will help with mise en place, maintain proper portioning and recipe adherence, and keep food preparation areas, tools, and equipment in clean and orderly condition.
Key Duties
- Assist chefs with everyday food preparation, cooking tasks, and presentation work.
- Prepare mise en place and support smooth kitchen operations during service periods.
- Follow established recipes, portion guidance, and quality standards for each dish.
- Keep hygiene, sanitation, and food safety practices at a high level at all times.
- Ensure stations, utensils, and kitchen equipment are cleaned, arranged, and ready for use.
- Work closely with chefs and fellow team members to respond to operational demands.
- Contribute to consistent food quality, guest satisfaction, and efficient service delivery.
Qualifications and Experience
- Hands-on ability in food preparation and cooking, with strong culinary fundamentals.
- Understanding of kitchen hygiene, food safety, and safe working methods.
- Good communication skills for effective coordination with kitchen and service teams.
- Culinary education, vocational training, or equivalent practical experience is preferred.
- Experience in a hotel, restaurant, or high-volume kitchen environment is an advantage.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Strong attention to detail, dependability, and commitment to high standards.
- Basic English communication skills; knowledge of other hospitality languages is a plus.
