About the school
Pinjarra Senior High School has been supporting students and the local community since 1921. The school serves Pinjarra and surrounding areas, offering programs that prepare students in Years 7 to 12 for university, vocational pathways, and employment. Role overview
This opportunity is for a Cleaner to join a friendly school cleaning team in a pool for permanent and fixed-term openings, with both full-time and part-time work possible. Appointments may be made at any point for vacancies arising during the 2026 school year through to the end of Term 2, 2027.
The role sits under the guidance of the Cleaner in Charge and involves general internal cleaning in line with departmental procedures. You will also be expected to complete external cleaning and vacation cleaning tasks, helping maintain a clean, safe, and well-presented school environment.
Key duties
- Clean carpets and hard floor surfaces.
- Carry out toilet cleaning and other general washroom maintenance.
- Dust furniture and fittings, remove rubbish, and clean drinking troughs.
- Wash windows and complete other routine internal cleaning tasks.
- Clean verandas, covered areas, external windows, and remove cobwebs.
- Complete vacation cleaning such as carpet shampooing and pressure cleaning of designated areas.
- Respond to day-to-day cleaning needs and ad hoc requests as required.
What the school is looking for
Successful applicants should be dependable, hardworking, and able to communicate well. You should be comfortable working both independently and with others, keep good attention to detail, and bring an organised, honest, punctual approach to the job. Experience with cleaning equipment and safe cleaning methods is desirable.
Eligibility and checks
Applicants must hold a valid Working With Children Check, agree to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check, and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number from the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before commencing. Candidates must also be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, a permanent resident, or hold a valid visa with work rights for the full appointment period.

Application requirements
Applications should include a CV or resume outlining your work history, experience, and any relevant certificates or qualifications, along with a one-page statement addressing the selection criteria.
- Show that you can read and follow Material Safety Data Sheets, equipment operating instructions, safety directions, and training guidelines.
- Demonstrate knowledge of cleaning machinery and equipment, including polishers, vacuum cleaners, and pressure cleaners.
- Show that you can communicate clearly, follow instructions, and work effectively as part of a team.
