About the opportunity
Charles Upham Retirement Village in Rangiora, about 30 minutes from Christchurch City, is looking for a caring and creative person to join its Special Care Unit (Dementia Resthome) as an Activity and Lifestyle Assistant. This is a full-time onsite role working Tuesday to Saturday, 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, for 40 hours per week.
What you will do
You will help create a positive day-to-day environment for residents by planning and delivering engaging recreational, social, diversionary, and craft-based activities. Your work will support residents’ happiness, wellbeing, and overall quality of life, while also involving close collaboration with your team.
What we are looking for
To do well in this role, you should bring strong empathy, excellent communication skills, and a reliable, friendly, professional approach. A Dementia Care (LCP) Level 4 qualification is preferred, or you should be willing to complete it as part of the role. Previous experience in aged care is welcome but not essential.
