Program overview
The Abu Dhabi Investment Authority is launching its 2026 Quantitative Residency Program for outstanding doctoral researchers and advanced PhD candidates working in quantitative areas. The residency is intended for people who want to apply rigorous research methods to practical, high-impact investment and technology problems.
Focus areas
The program brings together work at the intersection of quantitative research, artificial intelligence and machine learning, data science, and systematic investing.
What residents will work on
Participants will work alongside senior researchers, engineers, and scientific investment professionals on challenging research initiatives. Typical problem areas include:
- Modeling uncertainty
- Building robust portfolio optimization approaches
- Estimating large-scale covariance matrices
- Developing agent-based and agentic systems
- Creating predictive models in environments with weak signals and high noise
- Analyzing social and economic networks
Candidate profile
The residency is highly selective and is aimed at intellectually driven people who enjoy solving complex quantitative problems through research.
It is open to PhD students in their third year or later, as well as recent PhD graduates who are looking for research-oriented industry experience.
Suitable backgrounds include, but are not limited to, computer science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, statistics, mathematics, physics, data science, computational finance, engineering, and other related quantitative disciplines.
Program duration and location
Residency terms can run from 3 months to 18 months. The program is based at the employer’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi.
Compensation and support
Selected participants will be offered visa support, relocation assistance, accommodation support, and a competitive compensation and benefits package.
Application window
Applications remain open for a three-month period, from 15 June to 15 September.
