Yard Operative

Role overview

We are looking for a Yard Operative to join the operations team at our centre in Sandy, Bedfordshire (SG19 2UB). This role is well suited to someone who enjoys working outdoors in all weather conditions and has an interest in vehicles and car handling.

As part of the yard team, you will play an important role in keeping the operation running smoothly by responding quickly to customer needs, completing service orders on time, and making sure vehicles are stored and maintained in line with both customer expectations and company standards. You will also use a handheld device to capture vehicle images.

The salary for this role is £29,436 per year.

What you will be doing

• Responding to customer requests in a timely and professional manner.
• Completing service orders within required deadlines.
• Ensuring vehicles are stored and maintained according to company and customer requirements.
• Using handheld devices to photograph vehicles and complete basic operational tasks.
• Working effectively as part of a busy yard team in a fast-moving environment.

What we are looking for

• A strong focus on customer service.
• Clear written and spoken communication skills.
• Good attention to detail.
• Confidence using handheld devices and basic IT tools.
• The ability to juggle multiple tasks in a high-pressure, fast-paced setting.
• Willingness to work outdoors in changing weather conditions.
• Prior experience in a production, warehouse, or yard environment is helpful, though not essential.
