Role overview
The Warehouse Technician is responsible for supporting the warehouse function in a GMP-controlled manufacturing setting. The position centers on material handling tasks such as receiving goods, taking samples, moving materials internally, preparing picks and kits, and handling outbound shipments. A strong emphasis is placed on safe working practices, quality adherence, and ongoing improvement, while supporting drug substance manufacturing activities on site. The role also involves close coordination with supply chain colleagues, site teams, and outside partners to keep materials available on time and in line with compliance requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out goods receipt activities according to site procedures.
- Take material samples in accordance with ANSI standards.
- Prepare picks and kits for manufacturing material requests.
- Perform cycle counts to help maintain inventory accuracy.
- Oversee outbound shipping and logistics, including dangerous goods handling.
- Support packing of drug substance materials for shipment.
- Enter material handling and sampling records into electronic log systems.
- Use ERP platforms such as SAP or COMET as a primary system user.
- Assist with laboratory and quality applications such as GLIMS where relevant.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts within warehouse operations.
- Support quality event investigations as a subject matter expert when needed.
- Serve as a qualified trainer for warehouse processes.
- Ensure GMP and safety requirements are followed at all times.
- Maintain Standard Operating Procedures for allocated warehouse areas.
- Develop expertise in a designated operational area, such as cell bank management, cold chain logistics, material management, or ERP superuser activities.
- Take part in audits, GEMBA walks, Tier board meetings, and operational problem-solving activities.
- Assist with cross-functional training and capability building.
- Complete additional duties as required by the business.
Education and experience
The position calls for at least 2 years of experience in a GMP-regulated manufacturing or warehouse environment. A minimum Level 6 qualification is required. A forklift licence is considered an advantage. Experience using ERP systems such as SAP or equivalent is expected, along with solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools. The role suits someone who can work independently as well as within cross-functional teams and who shows a strong commitment to safety, quality, diversity, and inclusion.
Working pattern and other requirements
This is a full-time, on-site role with no hybrid option. It follows a shift-based schedule in a 16/5 operation. The first week runs from 07:00 to 15:00, and the second week runs from 15:00 to 23:00. Weekend coverage is included. A 20% shift premium applies. Candidates must be able to handle manual tasks of up to 50 lbs and should have basic computer literacy.
