Support Worker - Taumarunui

About the role

This permanent full-time position is based in Taumarunui and includes weekends as well as sleepover shifts. The role supports IDEA Services clients with intellectual disabilities who live in their own homes and aims to help them reach their personal goals and live meaningful lives within their communities. The work is varied and rewarding, and it gives you the opportunity to bring creativity to each day in ways that matter to the people you support.

In this position, you will work with people who have complex needs, help manage risk, maintain safety, and provide personal care overnight. While experience in a similar role is an advantage, the organisation is equally interested in candidates with a broad range of life experience and a positive, open approach.

What you will bring

No previous background in health or disability support is required, but you should have a genuine interest in building a career as a Support Worker and a willingness to learn. Full training and orientation will be provided to successful applicants who show enthusiasm and commitment.

• Experience in caregiving or personal care for adults is preferred.
• You should be calm and confident when supporting challenging behaviour.
• You need to be available for flexible shifts, including weekends and sleepovers.
• Daily use of computers and tablets should feel comfortable for you.
• Clear written and verbal communication is important.
• The job requires good physical fitness to provide hands-on support.
• A full New Zealand driver licence is mandatory.
