Sr. Manager, Deployment

Job Summary

The Senior Manager, Deployment will oversee the full lifecycle of telecommunications rollout programs, making sure each initiative is executed safely, delivered on schedule, stays within budget, and supports customer as well as company goals. This position manages cross-functional teams involved in network buildouts, including RF engineering, site construction, and field operations, with particular attention to Tier 1 carrier expectations. The role also calls for strong knowledge of wireless network deployment, infrastructure integration, and field logistics, including temporary power solutions such as mobile generators.

Core Responsibilities

Lead deployment strategy, team coordination, project execution, vendor oversight, budget control, compliance, reporting, and continuous improvement across telecom network deployment programs.

Strategic Deployment Leadership

• Create, roll out, and refine deployment plans for network expansion, upgrades, and greenfield site builds.
• Keep execution aligned with Tier 1 carrier standards, service commitments, and quality expectations.

Team Leadership and Cross-Functional Coordination

• Direct and coach project managers, RF engineers, construction managers, and deployment coordinators.
• Work closely with RF engineering to protect design integrity, improve coverage, and meet performance goals.
• Coordinate with engineering, operations, sales, and field groups so deployment work supports broader business priorities.

Project and Program Management

• Manage complex telecom projects from site acquisition through construction, integration, and on-air launch.
• Coordinate detailed work such as tower upgrades, equipment installs, and site construction activities.
• Hold teams accountable for schedules, deliverables, and overall program performance.

Field Operations and Infrastructure Deployment

• Oversee site-level rollout work, including antennas, radios, fiber, and backhaul installation.
• Ensure temporary and permanent power solutions, including mobile generators and backup systems, are deployed and managed correctly.
• Supervise subcontractors and field crews to maintain safety, quality, and compliance.

RF Engineering Integration

• Translate RF design requirements into execution on the ground.
• Support site acceptance, drive testing, and performance checks to confirm the network is operating as intended.

Vendor and Stakeholder Management

• Handle relationships with Tier 1 carriers, suppliers, and subcontractors to keep projects moving smoothly.
• Negotiate agreements, monitor vendor delivery, and enforce SLA commitments.

Budget and Resource Management

• Build and manage budgets, forecasts, and resource plans with full ownership of P&L performance.
• Track financial results and align execution with revenue and profitability goals.
• Balance cost efficiency with quality and compliance requirements.
• Use resources effectively to support operational and financial success.

Compliance and Permitting

• Ensure all deployment work follows regulatory, environmental, and permit-related requirements.
• Maintain compliance with OSHA, local safety rules, and accepted industry practices.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting

• Monitor project progress, identify risks early, and put mitigation plans in place when delays or issues arise.
• Provide leadership with regular updates on status, KPIs, and program outcomes.

Continuous Improvement

• Run post-deployment reviews to capture lessons learned and improve future execution.
• Apply best practices that strengthen deployment speed, safety, and network performance.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in telecommunications, engineering, business administration, or a related discipline.
• At least 8 years of experience in telecom deployment, wireless network construction, or project/program leadership.
• Hands-on experience working with Tier 1 carriers such as Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile, along with knowledge of their standards and workflows.
• Solid understanding of RF engineering concepts and how they are applied in network rollout.
• Proven ability to manage large, multi-site deployment programs, including level work and field construction.
• Experience managing power solutions, including mobile generator deployment and site power integration.
• Strong leadership and team-management capability across diverse, cross-functional groups.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Comfort using project management methods such as Agile and Waterfall, plus tools like MS Project, Smartsheet, or similar platforms.
• Ability to work with data, monitor KPIs, and make strategic, evidence-based decisions.
• Preferred: PMI/PMP certification or an equivalent credential.
• Preferred: Exposure to 5G rollout, small cell, and macro site deployments.
• Preferred: Familiarity with fiber deployment and backhaul technologies.
• Preferred: Knowledge of site acquisition, zoning, and permitting processes.
• Additional requirement: willingness to travel as needed for field work and customer engagement.
• Additional requirement: ability to thrive in a fast-moving, high-pressure environment with changing priorities.
