Senior Analyst - Excel Automation & Power BI

Role overview

Tata Consultancy Services is hiring a Senior Analyst in Mumbai for a hands-on analytics and automation role focused on Excel, Power BI, and reporting transformation. The position calls for someone with 10+ years of experience who can convert large, complex data sets into clear insights that support leadership and functional decisions.

What you will do

• Create and maintain advanced Excel models, dashboards, trackers, and leadership-ready reports.
• Streamline manual reporting work through VBA/macros, Power Query, and Power BI automation.
• Design business, finance, workforce, compensation, hiring, and scenario-based models.
• Build interactive Power BI dashboards using data modeling, DAX measures, and analytical views.
• Collect, clean, validate, and reconcile data from multiple sources with a strong focus on accuracy.
• Prepare trend analysis, exception reporting, and practical recommendations for senior stakeholders.
• Work closely with HR, Finance, Procurement, Admin, Projects, and Operations teams to understand analytics needs.
• Strengthen reporting controls, version management, confidentiality practices, and data quality.

Required expertise

• Advanced Excel capability, including complex formulas, pivot tables, charts, slicers, conditional formatting, and dynamic arrays.
• Strong practical experience with macros and VBA-based automation.
• Solid command of formulas and functions such as XLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, INDEX-MATCH, SUMIFS, COUNTIFS, IFERROR, nested IF statements, text/date functions, and Power Query.
• Hands-on Power BI experience covering dashboard development, data modeling, and DAX.
• Background in building models for finance, workforce planning, compensation, forecasting, scenario analysis, or operational reporting.
• Ability to work with large data sets while maintaining speed, precision, and attention to detail.

Additional preferences

Exposure to SQL, Power Platform, Python, Tableau, Qlik, databases, automation scripts, or analytics certifications will be viewed favorably. Experience in BFSI, FP&A/finance analytics, Big 4 or consulting, GCC/GBS shared services, telecom, digital infrastructure, or other asset-heavy industries is considered useful. Candidates from IT services may also be considered if they bring strong depth in analytics, automation, and modeling.

Assessment focus

The selection process may include a live Excel modeling case, a macro/VBA automation test, a Power BI dashboard exercise, a data cleansing challenge, and a scenario modeling discussion.

Candidate profile

The preferred candidate should be highly analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders. A person who has independently built models and dashboards will be preferred over someone limited to routine MIS reporting.
