About the Role
The Payroll Officer will ensure payroll is processed accurately and on time for employees across the organisation’s international operations. The role calls for strong knowledge of payroll legislation and compliance requirements across multiple jurisdictions, together with excellent analytical ability and a high level of attention to detail.
Working closely with the Payroll team, People & Culture, and Finance, the role will help keep payroll data current and correct while also contributing to the ongoing improvement of payroll systems and processes to drive greater efficiency and effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
- Run payroll for the global workforce accurately and within required timelines.
- Complete month-end payroll tasks across relevant jurisdictions.
- Check that all payroll system inputs are complete and correct.
- Handle employee questions about payroll and benefits.
- Support the preparation of payroll reporting and analysis when needed.
- Keep payroll records accurate, organised, and current.
- Ensure payroll activities comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Work with PCP to make sure employee benefits and deductions are processed correctly.
- Support payroll audits by providing documentation and information as required.
- Review current payroll procedures and help improve accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
- Carry out other duties assigned by management.
- Stay informed about current statutory obligations, laws, and regulations.
- Share updates on payroll-related statutory changes, including tax and superannuation/pension updates, with the Global Payroll Lead and Manager.
- Provide ad hoc analysis when required.
- Speak up for safety and act on it.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of payroll processing experience in an organisation with more than 250 employees across multiple jurisdictions.
- Experience using payroll systems; exposure to Global Payroll is preferred.
- Strong understanding of payroll regulations, including tax, superannuation, and the Fair Work Act.
- Fast and accurate data entry skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Process improvement experience, including rollout of new systems, is highly desirable.
- Experience with shadow payroll is desirable.
- Familiarity with entering new countries for payroll and employee setup is desirable.
