The Talent Programs team is responsible for recruitment, talent development, employee engagement, and HR program implementation, while also ensuring policies and procedures align with regulatory requirements. In this position, you will handle employee-facing HR support, help administer payroll-related provisions, and maintain accurate records in the HRIS.

This is a hybrid role. The selected candidate is expected to work both on-site and off-site, with at least 40% of working time, or 2 days per week, spent in person. The role follows a Monday to Friday schedule of 37.5 hours per week, with 7.5 hours per day.

Key accountabilities

You will be the first point of contact for routine HR questions and will guide employees and managers on policies, procedures, programs, and benefit-related matters. The role also involves supporting Labour and Employee Relations activities as needed.

You will process complex employee changes such as hires, internal transfers, leaves, returns to work, layoffs, recalls, terminations, and retirements. In addition, you will manage pay adjustments in line with collective agreement terms and non-union compensation rules, and help administer pension and benefit programs according to plan and legislative requirements.

Another important part of the role is keeping HR records accurate, maintaining databases, preparing reports required under collective agreements, and ensuring that employee lifecycle data is entered correctly in the HRIS. You will also work with Talent Management and other partners to support new or updated programs and ensure they are properly built into internal processes and system workflows.

Required background

The ideal candidate has a post-secondary education in Human Resources, Payroll, or Business Administration, along with at least 3 years of relevant experience in HR, payroll, and HRIS support, preferably in SAP. Experience handling employee questions about pay and administering benefits and pension programs is also needed. Prior work in a unionized environment is considered an advantage.

You should have a solid understanding of multiple collective agreement provisions related to compensation and employee entitlements, along with strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Clear verbal and written communication is essential, as are strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, organization, prioritization, and customer service skills.
