Role overview
Infrastructure People is hiring a permanent full-time Wages Clerk / Accounts Administrator for its Sydney, NSW operation. The company is a growing civil construction business that has recently launched in Sydney and already has a solid pipeline of projects across New South Wales. This role is a chance to join early in the business’s growth and develop alongside it.
You will report to the Finance Manager and wider leadership team, taking ownership of weekly payroll while also supporting the broader finance function. At the start, payroll will manage around 35 employees, but this is projected to expand significantly as work scales up, with headcount expected to rise to between 200 and 300 employees over the coming years.
What you will do
- Run weekly payroll with accuracy and within deadlines
- Keep employee payroll details and supporting records up to date
- Handle payroll questions and employee requests
- Process supplier invoices and manage accounts payable payments
- Support accounts receivable tasks such as billing, debtor follow-up, and reconciliations
- Contribute to month-end reporting and general financial administration
- Maintain precise financial records and complete data entry tasks
- Assist project teams with payroll and finance-related needs
- Help refine processes as the organisation expands
What we are looking for
The ideal candidate will have prior experience in a Wages Clerk, Payroll Officer, or Payroll Administrator role, along with exposure to both accounts payable and accounts receivable. Background in construction, civil, infrastructure, engineering, or another project-based environment will be highly valued.
You should bring strong attention to detail, solid organisation skills, and the ability to juggle several priorities in a busy environment. Clear communication, confident stakeholder management, and experience using payroll and accounting systems are also important. A proactive mindset and willingness to contribute to a growing business are essential.
