Opportunity Overview
NORTEC is inviting an experienced leader to join its Board as a Non-Executive Director. This is a paid governance appointment for a three-year term, with the possibility of renewal. The role is based on the Australia Eastern Seaboard, and it offers the chance to contribute commercial insight in a mission-driven setting.
The position has become available following the retirement of a valued Board member. NORTEC is looking for someone who can bring digital expertise, strategic thinking, and a strong commitment to community outcomes.
About NORTEC
NORTEC is an ACNC-registered not-for-profit public company limited by guarantee. Its purpose is to improve health, wellbeing, and financial resilience across the community. The organisation operates through three connected focus areas:
- GP Medical Clinics: A growing community-based bulk-billed general practice service focused on fair and accessible primary healthcare.
- Charitable Lottery: A fundraising channel that supports the financial sustainability and expansion of community-focused initiatives.
- Community Programs: Targeted initiatives that respond to social disadvantage, education, and employment needs.
What the Role Involves
This Board position is suited to someone who can contribute at a strategic level, provide constructive oversight, and support the organisation during a period of growth. The successful candidate will help guide decisions that influence NORTEC’s future direction.
Essential Criteria
- Strong governance experience, with a clear understanding of the responsibilities of a company director.
- Background in strategic oversight, including familiarity with risk management and financial matters.
- Hands-on experience in digital marketing, such as social media, paid digital activity, email campaigns, and/or CRM systems.
- Demonstrated success in fundraising, donor relations, or philanthropic development.
- Experience founding, leading, or advising a start-up or early-stage business or organisation.
- Well-developed commercial judgement, paired with an appreciation of the not-for-profit environment.
- Ability to contribute thoughtfully at Board level and take part in strategic decision-making.
- High ethical standards, strong judgement, and a genuine interest in community wellbeing.
- Capacity to meet the time commitment required for the Board role.
Terms and Conditions
- Organisation type: Not-for-profit.
- Directorship term: 3 years, with renewal possible.
- Remuneration: Paid.
- Location of opportunity: Australia – Eastern Seaboard.
