About the company
VCCP Roar is an integrated PR and marketing agency with specialist expertise across consumer, technology, corporate reputation and financial services. It was formed by bringing together three long-established specialist agencies: Good Relations, Harvard and Teamspirit, creating one cross-sector business focused on influence-led communication.
The agency describes itself as a team of disruptors focused on challenging convention and staying ahead of how influence is earned. With around 150 people, the business combines audience tools, proprietary AI technology and bold creative thinking to stay at the leading edge of the industry.
The role
The worlds of PR, content and marketing now overlap, and the design team at Roar creates work across all of these areas every day. This includes social content, animations, brand marketing assets, web design and presentations.
Due to increased demand, the agency is hiring a junior designer who wants to make an early mark in the industry. The ideal person will be passionate about eye-catching creative work, aware of current design trends and formats, and interested in using AI techniques to improve output. Agency exposure through placements or an early career role would be helpful, but the portfolio, mindset and enthusiasm of the candidate are the main priorities.
What the job involves
The role spans two main areas of work:
- New business and agency marketing: bringing presentations to life, building pitch-ready decks, creating mock-ups and visual concepts, and producing marketing materials such as event invitations and posters for VCCP Roar.
- Client work: designing content including social assets, brochures and press packs across a wide mix of sectors such as food and drink, FMCG, technology, travel and financial services, for both consumer and business audiences.
You will join the creative department, a collaborative team of 15 people responsible for design and production across the agency. The environment is fast-moving and deadline-driven, so you will need to handle pressure while still delivering high-quality creative work.
The agency is looking for someone who is willing to contribute beyond a narrow job description and bring a broad creative mindset. As you grow into the role, there may also be opportunities to work more closely with account teams on ideas that support creative content and campaign development.
Candidate profile
The successful applicant should have a strong design portfolio and a clear enthusiasm for creative work. They should be digitally confident, comfortable with social and online content, and interested in how emerging AI methods can strengthen creative execution.
You should be able to move ideas from rough scamps to polished finished artwork, and be comfortable working with the core Adobe Creative Suite tools, especially Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. Experience with Premiere or After Effects would be an advantage. Confidence in Google Slides is also important, especially for creating templates and refining presentations into polished pitch documents.
Attention to detail, quality control, adaptability, and the ability to prioritise under tight deadlines are all essential. The role also calls for strong communication skills, the ability to work with different teams, and the confidence to build productive working relationships quickly.
You should be comfortable researching and applying new techniques to create stronger, more impactful work, and you should contribute positively to the agency culture through involvement in social or internal initiatives.
About you
The agency is especially interested in people who are passionate about advertising and creative work, resilient in high-pressure environments, proactive, friendly and approachable, and eager to learn. A team-oriented attitude and the ability to build rapport quickly are also important, along with a strong commitment to quality and the agency’s values.
Equality, inclusion and onboarding
VCCP says it is committed to an inclusive workplace where people can be themselves and do their best work. The company is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of gender, age, disability, religion or belief, sexual orientation, marital status or ethnicity. If you need adjustments during the application or interview process, you can request support through the employer’s contact channel.
As part of onboarding, the selected candidate will need to complete a declaration covering any unspent criminal convictions. For roles in finance, HR, legal, IT or senior management, the company may also require a basic DBS check along with adverse finance and identity checks.
Application timing
If you do not receive an update within two weeks after applying, the employer asks that you assume your application will not be taken forward for this specific role.
