Role summary
This position is a practical, hands-on IT support role covering systems used across several branches in North Cork and West Limerick. You will help keep day-to-day operations running smoothly while also contributing to wider technology improvements. The role reports to the IT Manager and offers exposure to support, maintenance, troubleshooting, infrastructure, systems, and security work.
Key duties
- Deliver in-person and remote technical assistance to employees across 8 branches.
- Diagnose and resolve problems affecting desktops, laptops, servers, networks, printers, and business software.
- Support the introduction of new hardware and digital solutions.
- Help users adopt new systems by preparing clear and practical guidance materials.
- Contribute to IT projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Stay informed about relevant technical and industry trends.
- Keep IT records up to date, including documentation, asset inventories, and user instructions.
- Communicate clearly and proactively with colleagues, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Work with external suppliers when issues need to be escalated.
- Coordinate with the IT Manager on maintenance planning, security patching, and review of system and application events that impact performance.
- Handle other IT support tasks as required.
Requirements
- Between 1 and 3 years of practical IT support experience.
- Working knowledge of Windows operating systems, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365 administration.
- Strong troubleshooting ability and a hands-on approach to problem solving.
- Clear communication skills with the ability to explain technical matters simply.
- A positive, adaptable attitude and eagerness to learn.
- Either hands-on experience, relevant IT certifications, or formal study in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline.
- Full clean driving licence and access to personal transport, as travel between branches is required.
- Experience supporting a credit union would be an advantage.
- Strong administrative, organisational, and support skills with the ability to prioritise and escalate issues appropriately.
- Alignment with the values and ethos of the credit union is preferred.
