Head of Operations (Data Centre)

Role summary

This position leads day-to-day and long-term operations for commissioned data centres, with accountability for maintenance, reliability, safety, and service uptime. The role ensures that facility performance and customer service levels stay at or above contractual commitments.

Core responsibilities

• Set up and run a Central Command & Monitoring Centre to supervise operations remotely.
• Create, standardize, and enforce operating procedures for mechanical, electrical, cooling, and fibre infrastructure.
• Work toward and protect an uptime target above 99.999% across all sites.
• Use IoT and AI-based insights to strengthen preventive and predictive maintenance planning.
• Handle vendor annual maintenance contracts, performance assessments, and escalation handling.
• Investigate outages to identify root causes and carry out corrective measures.
• Plan spare parts, track consumable stock, and monitor energy-efficiency performance.
• Ensure operations and maintenance practices meet global hyperscaler audit and compliance expectations.

Candidate profile

The ideal professional has an engineering background and extensive experience in data centre or other critical infrastructure operations and maintenance. Strong exposure to DCIM platforms, automation, and high-availability environments is expected, along with a solid focus on safety and client communication.

Success metrics

• Maintain 99.999% uptime and keep PUE at or below 1.25.
• Achieve SLA adherence with no major downtime events.
• Improve O&M cost efficiency by at least 10% every year.

Additional details

Experience required: 15 to 30 years. Location options include Pune, Mumbai, and Hyderabad. Interviews will be conducted virtually. This is a full-time role.
