About the Role

We are hiring a Graduate Data Scientist to join a growing Data & Analytics team in Australia. This is a great entry point for a recent graduate or an early-career professional who wants to develop a career in data science, machine learning, and advanced analytics.

In this position, you will partner with Data Scientists, Data Analysts, and Machine Learning Engineers to turn raw data into practical insights that inform business decisions. The role offers hands-on exposure to data preparation, statistical analysis, predictive modelling, and machine learning work, along with opportunities to strengthen both technical and business problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Gather, clean, and structure large datasets so they are ready for analysis and modelling.
• Carry out exploratory analysis to uncover trends, relationships, and actionable insights.
• Support the creation and testing of predictive models and machine learning solutions.
• Build reports, dashboards, and visual presentations that make findings easy to understand.
• Assist in checking and validating statistical and machine learning model outputs.
• Work with business stakeholders to clarify analytical needs and project goals.
• Record methods, workflows, and final project results clearly.
• Keep an eye on data quality and help maintain accurate, reliable datasets.
• Participate in research and experimentation around new and emerging data science methods.
• Stay current with tools, trends, and best practices in data science and analytics.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or another quantitative discipline.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capability.
• Working knowledge of Python and/or R.
• Understanding of statistics, probability, and core data analysis concepts.
• Basic SQL and database skills.
• Exposure to data visualisation tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Matplotlib.
• Careful attention to detail when handling complex datasets.
• Good written and spoken communication skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team.

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with machine learning frameworks such as Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
• Experience through academic, internship, or personal data science projects.
• Knowledge of cloud environments like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Understanding of predictive analytics and statistical modelling approaches.
• Working knowledge of Git and version control workflows.
• Exposure to Generative AI, Natural Language Processing, or Large Language Models.
