İş tanımı

Role Overview

We are looking for a Cost Controller to support renewable energy projects from a financial control perspective. The role focuses on building effective cost management processes, preparing reliable estimates and budgets, tracking expenditure, and helping teams stay aligned with financial goals and reporting standards.

Cost Control Systems Development and Implementation

You will design and roll out cost control frameworks that help manage project expenses across renewable energy initiatives. This includes defining cost categories, setting up control procedures, and introducing monitoring tools that allow accurate tracking of spend. You will also work closely with project managers to embed these practices into day-to-day project execution and ensure they meet financial reporting expectations.

Budget Preparation and Cost Estimation

The role requires preparing detailed budgets and cost estimates for renewable energy projects. You will coordinate with project managers to collect inputs, understand project scope, and build budget plans that are practical, complete, and aligned with project objectives. You must also provide budget allocation details for PR creation and commercial/project NFAs within the required timelines.

Monitoring, Analysis, and Cost Optimization

You will keep track of project expenditure to confirm it remains within approved budgets. This involves reviewing financial data, identifying deviations, investigating cost variances, and preparing regular reports. You will be expected to recommend cost-control actions, improve cost efficiency, and help maintain project quality and schedule while comparing actuals with forecasts to find savings opportunities.

Cost Reporting, Documentation, and Assurance

The role includes creating and maintaining accurate cost reports and supporting documentation for renewable energy projects. You will record financial transactions in line with company policies and regulatory requirements, provide clear visibility into project financial health, and keep records current and complete. You will also review Project/Commercial NFAs and share feedback with the Head - PMAG in a timely manner.

Business Growth and Project Support

You will support bid readiness by coordinating the BoQ from Engineering, obtaining estimates from the Technical team, and working to meet bid deadlines. The position also involves assisting with the Projects Master Plan and related deliverables, supporting capex finalization for international opportunities such as the Sri Lanka Wind Project, and performing cost-based due diligence for M&A opportunities where needed.

Training, Organization Building, and Reporting

During the financial year, you will be expected to complete 5 man-days of training, covering both behavioral and technical topics. As part of the Internal Auditor function for IMS Group-1, you will conduct audits and submit reports as per the IMS implementation and sustenance schedule. You will also prepare and report EAC for projects with variance analysis, monitor module performance, support CPAG presentations, analyze cash flow variance for Chairman MIS, and review Pre-Ops reports for Chairman Review Meetings.

Stakeholder Collaboration

This role works closely with internal teams across projects, technical coordination, HR & admin, PMAG, quality, IT, finance, and operations. Strong collaboration with these stakeholders is important for accurate budgeting, reporting, and execution support.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in engineering is required, preferably in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Renewable Energy, or in another related technical discipline. The role calls for 8 to 12 years of experience in cost control, budget control, estimating, and project execution. Hands-on knowledge of SAP and strong Excel skills are essential, along with strong analytical ability. Experience in renewable energy, construction, or industrial projects is preferred, and the candidate should be comfortable communicating with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
