Controller

Role Summary

The Controller will manage core accounting activities with accuracy and efficiency, including oversight of the General Ledger and related reconciliations. This role also supports financial reporting, compliance, budgeting, treasury, audit coordination, and analysis to help leadership make informed operational decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate accounting operations and preparation of financial reports.
• Manage treasury activities and produce cash flow forecasts.
• Supervise general accounting and reporting activities to support compliance requirements.
• Serve as the main point of contact for the annual external audit and work closely with outside auditors.
• Prepare monthly financial analyses and share results with management for monitoring and decision support.
• Review and coordinate operating and capital budget processes.
• Guide and train staff on accounting procedures and best practices.
• Deliver financial reporting to senior management to support stronger operational performance.
• Provide financial guidance to departmental leaders and share monthly reporting for operational areas.
• Perform ad hoc financial analyses for the CFO and senior leadership, including service-line profitability, pension costs, and similar requests.
• Ensure month-end close activities are completed promptly and effectively.
• Provide financial reports to the CFO.
• Review accounts receivable aging and partner with Revenue Cycle to support collection efforts.
• Help develop and manage the financial reporting computer system.
• Maintain and update accounting policies and procedures.
• Coordinate Medicare reimbursement strategies and related reporting.
• Oversee the timely distribution of manpower efficiency reports for the department.
• Handle additional duties as assigned.

Education and Certification Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required. CPA certification is also required.

Experience Requirements

Candidates must have at least 5 years of experience in Banking/Financial Services in a Financial Manager capacity, 5 years of experience as a Senior Accountant or Controller, and 5 years of progressive financial management experience in a healthcare accounting environment, including extensive work with third-party reimbursement.
