Role overview
Pacific National, Australia’s largest private rail freight operator, is hiring a Terminal Supervisor for its Adelaide Freight Terminal in Regency Park. This is a permanent, on-site opportunity to lead a busy terminal operations team and help deliver safe, efficient freight movement across the network.
Pacific National moves millions of tonnes of essential freight each day, including coal, intermodal containers, steel, and bulk commodities that support supply chains nationwide. The role is focused on guiding day-to-day terminal activity so trains run safely, on schedule, and with strong operational performance.
Key duties
Reporting to the Terminal Superintendent, you will oversee terminal operations, support people leadership, and coordinate resources to improve productivity and service delivery. You will also help reinforce safety standards and maintain compliance with operational requirements.
Safety and leadership focus
The position calls for visible leadership in a safety-critical environment, with responsibility for coaching the team, observing work practices, assessing performance, and supporting ongoing capability development. You will help shape a strong safety culture by communicating instructions clearly and ensuring standards are consistently followed.
Operational coordination
You will work with Integrated Planning Services and Network Control to support train movements and operational outcomes. The job also involves building effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and identifying ways to improve how the terminal operates.
What you need
To succeed in this role, you should bring proven supervisory or leadership experience, ideally from rail, transport, logistics, or another high-risk operational setting. Strong problem-solving ability, sound judgment, and the confidence to influence people at different levels of the organisation are important.
