Role Summary

The Technical Expert for the Environmental & Industrial Laboratory business will play a key role in supporting laboratory solutions and day-to-day technical activities across environmental, oil & gas, food, chemical, and industrial laboratory settings. The position centers on applying technical expertise, assisting laboratory clients, and helping ensure smooth deployment of instruments, testing platforms, and analytical solutions. The role works closely with sales, business, service, and supplier stakeholders to deliver dependable laboratory outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Offer hands-on technical assistance for laboratory solutions used in environmental, oil & gas, food, chemical, and industrial applications.
• Support clients in using laboratory instruments, testing systems, and analytical tools effectively.
• Work with the sales function on technical conversations, product walkthroughs, and solution demos.
• Manage coordination for installation, calibration, testing, and commissioning of laboratory equipment.
• Diagnose technical problems and drive prompt corrective action.
• Deliver training sessions for customers as well as internal staff.
• Draft technical submissions, compliance-related documentation, and laboratory reports.
• Confirm that solutions align with industry requirements, safety rules, and quality expectations.
• Liaise with overseas suppliers and service partners to obtain technical support when needed.
• Keep current with laboratory technologies, environmental regulations, and developments across the sector.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in environmental, oil & gas, food, chemical, or industrial laboratory operations/business.
• A bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, Biotechnology, Laboratory Science, or a similar discipline.
• Practical exposure to laboratory analytical instruments and testing systems.
• Solid understanding of environmental testing, chemical analysis, food safety testing, or petroleum laboratory workflows.
• Experience with chromatography, spectroscopy, sample preparation, or lab automation tools will be an added advantage.
• Strong ability to troubleshoot issues, analyze situations, and solve problems efficiently.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to manage customer relationships well.
• Familiarity with ISO laboratory standards, safety regulations, and quality compliance practices is preferred.
