About Sphere Labs
Sphere Labs is developing a new kind of payments and settlement infrastructure: one that is compliance-first, built for cross-border movement of money, and designed to operate effectively within regulated environments. The company works closely with banks, licensed businesses, and regulators so the systems it creates are suitable for real-world institutional use.
Sphere Labs is supported by Coinbase, Kraken, The Chernin Group, Jump Trading, Hudson River Trading, and several large sovereign-affiliated investors. It is a fully remote, globally distributed team building at a time when stablecoins are moving into mainstream financial use and regulated institutions are actively looking for modern payment rails. The team values self-directed people who communicate clearly, think methodically, and can turn a blank slate into something practical and valuable.
Role Summary
The Technical Compliance Analyst will handle the technical and operational execution of Sphere’s global compliance program. This position is central to maintaining compliance with international regulatory obligations, AML/CFT requirements, and ongoing reporting needs as the company obtains domestic and overseas licenses.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of transaction monitoring, KYC/B processes, and screening for new customer onboarding from start to finish.
- Maintain records and retention practices that meet the relevant regulatory timelines.
- Set up and manage monitoring rules for cross-border payments and stablecoin-related activity.
- Work closely with product and compliance teams to improve alignment and coordination across functions.
- Support day-to-day delivery of the compliance framework, including product changes, audit preparation, and review of program effectiveness.
- Identify, escalate, and help resolve suspicious activity in line with AML/BSA and USA PATRIOT Act obligations.
- Help build operating procedures for payments, treasury operations, and vendor integrations.
- Assist the compliance team during bank examinations and audits whenever needed.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of compliance experience, with strong capability in scaling compliance operations.
- Practical experience using transaction monitoring systems and working with reporting requirements.
- Prior exposure to cross-border payments, foreign exchange, or businesses connected to digital assets is strongly preferred.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across cultures and time zones.
Why Join Sphere?
This role sits at the meeting point of crypto infrastructure and regulated finance, where the next generation of global payments is being built.
- Timing matters: the payments backbone is being rebuilt now, with stablecoins becoming part of institutional finance and new settlement rails taking shape.
- High ownership and no fixed playbook: you will help define processes, make decisions, and build from scratch.
- Adaptability is essential: the environment is fast-moving and strategy may shift as the market evolves.
- Strong traction and meaningful scale: SpherePay is already live and used by more than 200 businesses, while SphereNet is being developed with banks and regulators across 18 jurisdictions and counting.
