Overview

This opportunity is for a Technical Author in Nigeria, with multiple role scopes and seniority levels available. The position is posted on behalf of a partner company, and that partner will handle all applications and the next stages of the hiring process.

The role sits at the intersection of technical communication and engineering. Accountabilities

• Develop, update, and continuously refine technical documentation for software products, internal platforms, or business processes, depending on the team assignment.
• Work alongside engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to ensure written material accurately reflects how systems work and what users need.
• Convert technical ideas and processes into content that is structured, readable, and accessible to different audiences.
• Help define documentation standards, editorial guidelines, and scalable best practices across teams and products.
• Engage with users and communities to gather real usage context and improve the usefulness of documentation.
• Encourage engineers and other cross-functional colleagues to contribute to documentation efforts.
• Take part in developing documentation methods and practices, including structured frameworks such as Diátaxis.
• Support the recognition of documentation as a key discipline in both product development and internal communication.

Requirements

• Proven experience in technical writing, software documentation, or a closely related engineering-facing role focused on clear communication.
• Exposure to software development or a strong understanding of engineering tools, workflows, and environments.
• Ability to interpret complex technical systems and explain them in an organized, logical manner.
• Strong written communication skills with consistent attention to clarity, accuracy, and style.
• Experience working with engineers, product teams, or open-source communities.
• Comfort with tools and environments such as Linux, Git, command-line interfaces, or documentation systems like Sphinx and reStructuredText.
• Genuine interest in technology and readiness to learn new domains and systems quickly.
• Ability to work both independently and with distributed teams in a fast-moving environment.
