Role Purpose

The Project Transmission Line Manager (Site)-Tx is accountable for delivering assigned portions of 765/400 kV transmission line projects within target timelines, budget limits, and quality expectations. The role requires a strong focus on zero-harm practices, process discipline, compliance, and efficient site execution. It also includes coordination with internal and external stakeholders, administrative follow-up, and leadership of a capable and collaborative team to ensure successful project delivery.

What You Will Do

  • Plan, track, and coordinate foundation, erection, and stringing work so the transmission line segment progresses according to schedule and quality targets.
  • Review survey inputs and on-ground conditions to confirm tower locations, route alignment, extension requirements, and crossing points such as highways and railway lines.
  • Build and update L2 schedules by forecasting weekly and monthly manpower and material requirements.
  • Prepare daily and monthly MIS reports for management review and project tracking.
  • Apply Field Quality Plans, IS Codes, and CBIP manuals at site, and verify that materials and work output meet required standards.
  • Enforce safety systems by implementing OHS plans and conducting periodic safety training.
  • Carry out routine quality and safety audits to stay aligned with regulatory requirements and reduce site risks.
  • Maintain records such as compensation documents, landowner agreements, and administrative files, while ensuring necessary approvals are in place to prevent penalties.
  • Work with government departments and administrative officers including Patwari, Tehsildar, and SDM for landowner and ROW-related support.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors through regular review meetings to address critical issues, control extra costs, and keep everyone aligned on project goals.
  • Communicate with local stakeholders, arrange shutdowns, and obtain permissions needed for timely execution.
  • Monitor project expenditure, manage resources, and compare spending against the approved budget.
  • Check vendor invoices and bills for correctness, approvals, and timely processing.
  • Identify and reduce on-site hazards through consistent safety checks and strict adherence to zero-harm practices.
  • Use project management tools and digital systems to track progress, allocate resources, and improve team communication in real time.
  • Introduce process and technology improvements that enhance execution quality and overall project outcomes.

Stakeholder Environment

Internal stakeholders include Projects, Engineering, and Head Office teams. External coordination is expected with STU, CTU, SLDC, and NRLDC.

Qualifications and Experience

A B.E. or B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering is required. The role calls for 10 to 12 years of relevant experience in high-voltage 765/400 kV transmission line project execution. Candidates should also have proven capability in resolving Right of Way issues and working knowledge of safety and regulatory compliance requirements for transmission line projects, including statutory approvals and quality protocols.

Additional Requirements

The position demands hands-on site leadership, strong documentation discipline, vendor and contractor coordination, budget awareness, and consistent adherence to quality and safety standards. Experience in managing ROW matters and navigating approvals with local authorities is essential for successful delivery.
