Role overview
The Supervisor, Remote Operations is responsible for supporting the daily logistics and operational work tied to ESPN remote broadcasts. In partnership with operational leadership, this position collaborates with production operations, coordinators, and subject-matter specialists to keep event planning, vendor coordination, equipment oversight, credentialing, travel arrangements, and on-site support running smoothly. The role is central to carrying out operational tasks that help deliver productions without disruption.
Key responsibilities
- Serve as the point of contact for mobile unit partners, technical suppliers, and freelance personnel so event plans and supporting documents remain accurate.
- Back up on-site and remote event execution by maintaining active communication with crewing, production, and operations leaders.
- Oversee the tracking, storage, and upkeep of production equipment used across the sports season.
- Keep planning files, team trackers, and scheduling systems current and reliable.
- Process and monitor vendor invoices, payments, purchase orders, and freelancer timecards in coordination with finance and operations groups.
- Join weekly status meetings and broader cross-functional planning sessions.
- Help bring new coordinators and seasonal team members up to speed through onboarding and training support.
- Provide live event assistance when issues arise with travel, gear, or staffing during broadcasts.
- Follow all departmental and company expectations related to operations, safety, and compliance.
Required qualifications
Applicants should bring at least 3 years of experience in sports media operations, live broadcast logistics, or live event production. The role calls for strong organization, sharp attention to detail, and the ability to solve problems effectively in a high-pressure environment. Experience working in team-oriented settings is important, along with familiarity with production compounds, vendor coordination, and event logistics. Candidates should also be comfortable using SmartSheet and Microsoft Office tools such as Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint. This position requires the ability to travel and work outside standard business hours, including weekends and holidays.
Preferred background
Experience supporting remote sports broadcasts is preferred. Knowledge of internal ESPN systems such as Playbook, NCS, and SAP is an added advantage. Strong written and verbal communication skills are also valued.
Education
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A bachelor’s degree in Communications, Sports Management, or a related discipline is preferred.
Compensation and benefits
The hiring range for this role in Bristol, CT is $105,100 to $140,900 per year. Final pay may differ based on geographic location, job-related skills and experience, and internal pay considerations. The compensation package may also include a bonus and/or long-term incentive units, along with the company’s full range of medical, financial, and other benefits depending on the level and position offered.
