Role overview
Hartree Partners is hiring a Settlements Analyst to support a global commodities business by handling physical OTC settlement work across multiple products and trading regions. The role focuses on checking trade details, pricing, and settlement information accurately and on time, while maintaining strong operational controls. In this position, you will act as a go-to specialist within the settlements function, help resolve issues, and look for ways to improve procedures and systems.

Key responsibilities
- Serve as a key contact for schedulers, traders, and middle office colleagues to help ensure trade accuracy, prompt product movement confirmations, and quick resolution of mismatches.
- Check and process invoices for both payment and receipt while following internal policy and control requirements.
- Carry out pricing checks, settlement computations, and the creation of provisional and final invoices.
- Confirm banking and settlement instructions and assist with validating and onboarding new SSIs in Fenergo.
- Compile settlement packs for payment handling and cash forecasting, making sure all information is complete and accurate.
- Track and validate daily cash movements with counterparties, and investigate as well as resolve cash breaks and failed settlements.
- Handle complex OTC settlement analysis, including reconciliation work, invoice preparation, and settlement confirmations.
- Process FX settlements when needed.
- Spot opportunities to improve processes, support automation work, and help test system enhancements.
- Contribute to special initiatives, including onboarding new products.
Skills and experience
- A degree in business, accounting, or finance is strongly preferred.
- At least 3–4 years of experience in settlements, trade operations, or a similar back-office role within commodities.
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management abilities, with the confidence to work effectively across teams.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs, formulas, and pivot tables.
- Good decision-making capability and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Flexibility to adjust priorities and working hours to support global trading activity.
- Exposure to coding or scripting tools such as Python, SQL, or VBA would be an advantage.
