Position Overview
In this role, you will help guide a friendly and efficient checkout area while supporting the front-end team with strong service and day-to-day operational preparation. You’ll bring leadership, practical coaching, and a customer-first mindset to every shift so that each interaction reflects the company’s fresh shopping experience standard.
Key Duties
- Provide approachable, reliable, and enthusiastic service that aligns with the store’s customer experience standards.
- Welcome customers, process purchases, handle bagging, and accept payment accurately and carefully.
- Lead the front-end crew by assigning work, organizing break coverage, and making sure the department is ready for business each day.
- Build a supportive and inclusive team culture through hands-on coaching and training focused on service quality and floor operations.
- Help the management team with till balancing, change handling, overrides, cart recovery, and processing returns and refunds.
- Support end-of-day closing by coordinating tasks and confirming all required closeout work is completed.
- Assist with responsible alcohol handling and sales where relevant; Smart Serve certification is required for applicable locations or must be obtained.
- Work in accordance with company rules and standards, especially those related to health and safety, food safety, HACCP, and proper equipment usage.
- Take on additional tasks as needed from time to time.
What You Bring
- Strong enthusiasm for delivering a positive and memorable customer experience.
- Partial completion of a post-secondary program, along with at least 1 year of progressively responsible experience in a similar position, or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
- The ability to work independently while maintaining excellent quality, careful attention to detail, and strong cleanliness standards.
- For stores that sell alcohol: you must be at least 18 years old and hold Smart Serve certification, or be willing to obtain it.
- Good numeracy skills and a high level of accuracy when handling cash and transactions.
- A collaborative leadership approach supported by clear organization and communication skills.
- Comfort in a fast-moving, hands-on environment with multiple deadlines, extended standing, heavy lifting, repetitive activity, and work in cooler, freezer, or outdoor conditions.
- Availability for a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Strong English communication skills; French is an advantage.
