Role overview
This position is focused on improving the financial performance of freight and logistics operations across Saudi Arabia. The role combines revenue control, cost management, forecasting, budgeting, and profitability analysis to support better decisions, stronger margins, and long-term growth. It works closely with commercial and operations teams, using financial insight to guide strategy and execution.
Core responsibilities
- Oversee the accurate and timely recognition of revenue for freight and logistics activities, while ensuring alignment with company policies, accounting requirements, and internal controls.
- Review accruals, billing accuracy, revenue assurance processes, and possible revenue leakage, and help strengthen controls where needed.
- Work with operations leaders to confirm the accuracy and completeness of shipment information, revenue estimates, and other reporting inputs.
- Improve revenue control processes to raise financial precision and reduce commercial risk.
- Analyze costs and profitability across freight and logistics operations, including supplier bills, outsourced services, agent charges, and overhead distribution.
- Track margin performance by product, customer, trade lane, and service line, and recommend practical ways to improve profitability.
- Identify opportunities to improve margins through cost reduction, productivity gains, pricing support, and commercial performance review.
- Provide clear insight into key cost drivers and profit trends to support management decisions.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning for freight and logistics operations.
- Prepare monthly performance packs, financial dashboards, KPIs, and variance analysis for senior and regional leadership.
- Spot financial risks, emerging trends, and business opportunities, and share recommendations that support strategic planning.
- Help improve the accuracy of forecasts, visibility of financial performance, and overall performance management.
- Act as a finance partner to freight, logistics, supply chain, procurement, and commercial leaders.
- Support pricing decisions, customer tenders, network optimization, routing choices, and supplier negotiations with financial analysis.
- Influence operational and commercial decisions with data-led insights, profitability analysis, and strategic recommendations.
- Collaborate across functions so that financial goals stay aligned with growth initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Logistics, or a similar discipline.
- Professional qualifications such as CMA, ACCA, or CPA are considered an advantage.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in finance, preferably within freight or logistics.
- At least 3 years of experience in a controlling or FP&A position.
- Strong understanding of freight and logistics costing methods.
- Solid knowledge of revenue recognition principles and IFRS.
- Advanced analytical ability and strong financial modeling skills.
- Hands-on experience with cost allocation, route costing, and yield analysis.
- Advanced Excel skills, along with experience using ERP systems such as SAP/CW and BI tools.
