About the role
Southern Health-Santé Sud is hiring a Scheduling Clerk to support staffing coordination within the Human Resources department. This role focuses on maintaining day-to-day employee schedules, arranging relief coverage and on-call assignments, and ensuring accurate data entry and record keeping. The position works with leadership to follow collective agreement scheduling rules while building efficient schedules that help limit overtime and reduce reliance on agency staffing.
This is a temporary, full-time role based in Manitoba with a hybrid work arrangement. The site and work location are listed as to be determined, and the city is within Manitoba. The role has a 1.00 FTE, includes 7.75 working hours per day, and is scheduled on days. The annual base hours are 2015. The anticipated start and end dates are July 20, 2026 to March 31, 2027, with the term ending earlier if the collective agreement allows. The reason for the term is other leave. Salary will be determined.

Key responsibilities
The Scheduling Clerk is expected to act as a subject matter resource for staffing coordination and scheduling operations.
- Build, update, and maintain employee schedules, including relief shifts and on-call coverage.
- Carry out staffing-related data entry and keep scheduling records accurate and organized.
- Work with leaders to apply collective agreement scheduling provisions correctly.
- Develop cost-conscious schedules that help minimize overtime and agency use.
- Use independent judgment to set priorities, choose methods, and respond appropriately to unusual issues.
- Carry out duties in line with the organization’s mission, vision, values, and internal policies.
Experience and education
- At least 1 year of experience using electronic employee scheduling systems.
- At least 3 years of experience in a health care setting.
- Grade 12 education or an equivalent level of schooling.
- Training on ESP scheduling software is preferred.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may also be considered.
Skills and qualifications
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
- Understanding of collective agreements and scheduling rules.
- Ability to operate common office equipment effectively.
- Proven ability to schedule staff in a computerized system.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Comfort working in an interdisciplinary, collaborative setting.
- Ability to work independently and make decisions without close supervision.
- Analytical problem-solving approach.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet urgent deadlines.
- Respect for cultural diversity and ability to work with diverse communities.
- Confidentiality in handling paper, digital, and other information formats.
- Good attendance and work record.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence, access to an all-purpose insured vehicle, and at least $1,000,000 liability insurance.
