Catalyst is creating a new way for early-stage startup investing, aiming to make it easier for everyday people to participate while also helping founders secure capital more quickly through technology.

In a short span, the company has already brought together a community of more than 20,000 founders and investors and helped facilitate over $250,000 in startup funding.

The team is seeking highly motivated builders who want to contribute to a product that has the potential to reshape venture capital.

Role Overview

This is not a standard internship. You will partner directly with the founder to shape the user experience of a fintech platform from the very beginning. Rather than getting lost in a corporate process, your work will influence a live product used by thousands of founders and investors.

If you are passionate about startups, consumer products, Figma, and solving complex UX challenges, this opportunity could be a strong fit.

What You Will Work On

Design polished, high-fidelity interfaces in Figma and other UI tools as needed
Map out user journeys and produce wireframes
Strengthen onboarding and improve conversion flows
Create experiences for both mobile and desktop users
Develop reusable design systems and interface components
Carry out user research and usability testing
Transform founder ideas into refined product experiences
Work closely with engineers to deliver features
Contribute to shaping Catalyst’s broader product direction

What The Team Is Looking For

Hands-on experience with Figma
Solid understanding of UI/UX principles and best practices
A strong portfolio; academic or school projects are acceptable
Ability to think like a product owner, not only as a visual designer
Genuine interest in startups and fast-moving environments
Self-driven approach with the ability to take initiative independently
Clear communication skills for sharing ideas and feedback
Motivation to build something meaningful

Bonus Experience

Exposure to fintech product design
Experience designing for mobile-first experiences
Familiarity with design systems
Experience using Framer or Webflow
Previous collaboration with developers
Understanding of startups or venture capital

Growth Opportunity

As Catalyst expands, standout interns may have the chance to move into one of the company’s earliest full-time product leadership roles. The team is focused on building a founding team, not just filling short-term internship positions.

Time Commitment

This is a part-time role requiring around 10 to 20 hours per week, with a flexible schedule. Hybrid participation in New York City is preferred, but remote applicants are also welcome.

Compensation

This internship is unpaid.
