Role overview

This Payroll Officer position sits within the Shared Services Group and is responsible for making sure employees across Australia are paid correctly and on schedule. The role is based at the Essendon Fields head office and involves handling monthly salaried payroll for Linfox Group’s wholly owned Australian entities.

You will work as part of a dedicated payroll team and report to the Payroll Team Lead. This is a permanent full-time opportunity suited to someone who wants to contribute in a large, complex supply chain environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage your assigned share of the monthly salaried payroll run
• Enter new employees, process exits, and handle leave form administration
• Keep payroll files, checklists, and procedural documents up to date
• Reconcile leave balances, including long service leave, annual leave, and sick leave
• Prepare and process off-cycle payroll payments when needed
• Produce monthly payroll costing reports and support management reporting activities

What the role requires

The business is seeking a payroll specialist who pays close attention to detail, understands payroll systems, and is comfortable working in a structured, high-volume setting. A solid grasp of award interpretation and payroll compliance is important.

• 3 to 5 years of experience in payroll
• Practical experience using SAP SuccessFactors
• Working knowledge of agreements, PAYG, and superannuation requirements
• An accounting qualification, or active progress toward one
• Strong analytical ability with a track record of supporting process improvements
• Excellent organisation, time management, and precision in day-to-day work
• High standards of confidentiality and data handling
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills
• A proactive, adaptable approach to solving problems
