Role Overview
This position is for an experienced payroll and finance professional to oversee the full Irish payroll cycle while also contributing to finance, compliance, and reporting work. The role calls for strong payroll expertise, meticulous accuracy, and the ability to partner effectively with HR, Finance, and external payroll vendors. An IPASS qualification would be a notable advantage.
Payroll Operations
- Handle the processing, checking, and reconciliation of weekly and monthly payroll runs for Ireland.
- Manage a large number of payroll updates each period while maintaining accuracy and compliance.
- Deal with employee questions on PAYE, USC, PRSI, BIK, leave, and third-party deductions.
- Carry out manual payroll calculations where needed.
- Set up and administer deductions such as pensions, TaxSaver, Cycle to Work, VHI, loans, and savings plans.
Pensions and Benefits
- Oversee payroll administration for defined benefit and defined contribution pension arrangements for active and deferred members.
- Work with pension trustees and providers and resolve pension-related queries.
- Carry out annual pensioner existence checks and associated controls.
- Manage VHI renewals, process monthly change reports, and update premiums accordingly.
Compliance and Statutory Reporting
- Prepare salary certificates, social welfare forms, mortgage documents, and loss of earnings letters.
- File payroll- and finance-related statutory submissions such as ROS ERR, VIES, CSO reports, Kantar sales reporting, and any other required returns.
- Ensure compliance with Irish Revenue rules, employment legislation, and internal governance standards.
- Plan and complete payroll audits and maintain payroll risk and control records.
Finance and Accounting Support
- Prepare weekly and monthly payroll journals and accrual entries.
- Upload payroll journals into SAP or another ERP platform.
- Reconcile payroll general ledger accounts and balance sheet items using Blackline or a similar tool.
- Support statutory pension and payroll audits, as well as year-end finance activities, alongside the financial management accounting team.
Stakeholder Support
- Collaborate with central HR, Recruitment, Finance, Banking teams, and third-party service providers.
- Prepare monthly third-party payments, remittance advice, and supporting backup files.
- Provide day-to-day operational cover and supervision when the Payroll Manager or other team members are unavailable.
