About the opportunity
This newly established senior leadership position sits with the GM People & Culture and is responsible for leading the Organisational Development and Learning function. The role is focused on shaping workplace culture, strengthening leadership and management capability, and supporting the way the organisation serves disabled people.
You will guide an integrated body of work that builds culture, leadership capability, and workforce development while ensuring the organisation’s values are reflected in day-to-day practice.
What the role aims to achieve
- Promote a culture where safeguarding, dignity, and respect are consistently reflected in decisions and behaviour.
- Strengthen leadership and management capability across the organisation, with particular focus on frontline services.
- Develop clear learning and career pathways for the disability support workforce.
- Design a modern learning approach that is practical, accessible, and informed by evidence.
- Work alongside Māori and Pacific leadership to support equitable and culturally grounded change.
Key responsibilities
You will oversee a connected portfolio covering culture, leadership, workforce development, learning strategy, and team leadership.
Culture and values in practice
- Translate organisational values into behaviours, expectations, and everyday decision-making.
- Build psychological safety, ethical practice, and safeguarding into the culture.
- Use employee engagement and feedback to keep improving the workplace environment.
Leadership and management capability
- Develop and deliver leadership programmes across all levels of the organisation.
- Grow confident, capable managers who can lead safe and high-quality services.
Workforce development
- Create practical development solutions and clearer career pathways for support workers.
Learning and development strategy
- Lead a whole-of-organisation learning strategy aligned with values, safeguarding, and business needs.
Leading the OD and Learning team
- Manage and develop the team responsible for learning and capability programmes.
- Support sustainable change adoption through capability building and behaviour change.
Candidate profile
The organisation is seeking an experienced OD and learning leader who can balance strategy with delivery and who is committed to making a meaningful difference in people’s working lives and the lives of those supported by the organisation.
- Background in organisational development, learning, and business experience.
- Proven success leading culture and leadership development programmes.
- Ability to create practical, accessible solutions rooted in real work.
- Comfortable engaging with both senior leaders and frontline teams.
- Strong facilitation, coaching, and influencing skills.
- Deep commitment to equity, inclusion, and accessibility.
- Experience, or a willingness to develop capability, in partnering with Māori and Pacific leaders.
