Role Overview

This position is for an Oracle Database Administrator based in Chennai, India. The role centers on managing high-availability Oracle RAC environments, supporting cloud-hosted databases, maintaining security and stability, and handling database operations that keep production systems reliable and performant.

Responsibilities

• Set up, configure, and maintain Oracle RAC databases in highly available environments.
• Carry out patching and version upgrades, including PSU and CPU patch application across RAC systems.
• Handle backup, restore, and disaster recovery planning using RMAN and Data Guard.
• Support databases deployed on AWS platforms such as EC2 and RDS.
• Track database performance, investigate bottlenecks, and resolve advanced technical issues.
• Manage database security by administering users, roles, and privileges.
• Perform regular health checks, preventive maintenance, and capacity planning.
• Maintain strong availability and reliability across database infrastructure.
• Conduct performance tuning and address production incidents quickly and effectively.
• Use monitoring tools and scripting, including Shell scripting, to support administration tasks.
• Collaborate effectively and communicate clearly while solving operational problems.

Additional Skills Preferred

• Exposure to environments with multiple database platforms, such as MSSQL, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
• For MySQL, practical experience with master-slave replication and troubleshooting replication or binlog-related failures.
• For MSSQL, experience creating full and compressed backups and resolving storage issues such as tempdb and transaction log space exhaustion.
• For PostgreSQL, hands-on work with role and user administration, including group role creation and user assignment.
• Understanding of role-based access control and the distinction between a ROLE and a USER.

Compensation

The offered pay range is INR 5,00,000 to INR 10,00,000 per year.
